2015 Labor Day

A Labor Day Message from Jim Mantele

As the entire country celebrates Labor Day, we offer our sincere gratitude to IBEW members from Local Union 68. We stand proudly, side by side representing dedicated, talented, and hard-working brothers and sisters. Our members are unequivocally, among the best in the electrical industry.

Because of your unwavering commitment, we can all be proud of what we have accomplished this past year, both individually and collectively. Throughout the year, your efforts keep our legacy alive of building a stronger Colorado by being an integral part of the success in a wide variety of projects. Labor Day is our opportunity to honor that work, and that means standing up, speaking out and taking pride in what we do. While each of us makes a profound contribution to our communities with the work we do, never forget, that the work of every person is built on the work of another and we all rely on one another. We have built a society connected by work.

For generations the quest for good jobs, fair treatment and wages has sustained the economic security of America’s vital middle class. The future of these basic requests is being eroded by controlling groups and individual’s hell bent on completely eradicating the middle class.

Labor Day is also a call to action, a reminder that we must defend our beliefs to ensure that dignity and opportunity remain the birthright of all workers in this country. Recognize that proper representation for workers does not include working class oppression. We know what’s at stake, and we know what we have to do.

The jurisdiction has made some great strides towards recovery and essential to the process, is keeping our people employed. We have been and will continue to be part of the solution. Reach out and encourage your legislators to support investments that will promote construction and infrastructure improvements.

Today, remember those that went before us with a call for unity and strength – a commitment to keep building on our achievements to satisfy the needs of working families. Stand strong on these commitments and the spirit of the great American worker will never be broken. Working together, there is no challenge we can’t overcome.

So on this day that is set aside in your honor, enjoy the rewards of your hard work with family and friends. Have a great weekend and return safely!
